All guitar builders would love to build the “perfect” guitar. Well, working with finishes, wood, binding, steaming and bending etc. all have a mind of their own at times. The guitar builder GODS don’t always smile down upon you. Wood can be temperamental no matter how careful you are. You want the wood to go one way and it says, “oh yeah? That’s what you think!” During a build, no matter how careful you are, things can go wrong. An example can be during bending sides of a guitar for an acoustic guitar, sometimes the wood will split during the bending process. Things just happen.

The true art of a guitar builder is how to fix those issues without any tell tale signs of the issue when the guitar is finished. Don’t let guitar builders fool you! There are times when things just happen, however, true artisans can figure out a way to make those issues go away and never be noticed. We’ve all run into that at one time or another. It can be very frustrating, but there’s also the challenge and satisfaction to come up with ways to overcome them.
